With so many great sushi options on the island, it can be hard to choose just one. So we’ve done all the hard work for you! From classic rolls to fusion flavors, here are the top 6 locations with the best sushi on Kauai. We reccomend you try three or four during your stay.

Masa’s Sushi Restaurant

Japanese Grandma’s Café is located in Historic Hanapepe Town, where Master Sushi Chef Shinji Ueki prepares both traditional and popular sushi rolls with only the freshest ingredients. Order one of his extraordinary Bento bowl creations if you’re feeling really hungry after a day on the waves. In the kitchen, Executive Chef Thomas Falchini also makes classic Japanese fare, as well as local island favorites. There’s something for the entire family to enjoy here—just be sure to call ahead if you have a large group.

The Dolphin

Although The Dolphin opened in 1970, the location only recently added sushi to the menu in 2009. Despite being a relatively new offering, the sushi here is considered to be some of the best in Kauai. Enjoy their fresh and simple classic rolls, or venture out and order one of the chef’s deluxe creations. The full bar also serves Mai Tais, Pina Coladas, and other island classics. So kick back on the outdoor deck with a drink or roll, take in the amazing island views, and sip your way through an incredibly relaxing evening at The Dolphin.

If you’re heading to Ke’e Beach (or any of the beaches near “the end of the road/world”), then stop by Sushi Girl Kauai on the way. While you won’t find seating here, it’s the perfect place to grab a few rolls to go and enjoy right on the beach. Only locally sourced fish and organic vegetables are used in the sushi rolls here.
