The town of Kaanapali in West Maui is a lively town with something for that every one of our guests find fun things to do. Whether you are an adventurer looking for a new thrill or the relaxing type who just wants to lay in the warm sun and drink out of pineapples all day, this magical coastal town has so much to offer. Here is a list of the best things to do in Kaanapali.

Enjoy the Beach

Kannapali Beach is a long beautiful stretch of sandy white beaches and crystal clear blue water. If you’re looking to relax and swim, the northern part of the beach is typically less crowded and mostly beach bums. Oneloa and Mokule’ia Beach are especially quiet. Go further south if you are looking for ocean sports and adventure. Check out Black Rock if you are an experienced diver looking for a cliff to jump into the ocean from.

See a different side to Maui and go parasailing on the Kaanapali coastline. You can fly behind the back of a speedboat on your own, tandem with your hubby, or even triple with the kids. West Maui Parasail is situated on the northern end of the beach and offers affordable packages. You’ll never forget the breathtaking views when you parasail in paradise.

Go to a Luau

You haven’t truly experienced Hawaii until you have been to a luau. Ask around and the locals will be able to direct you to one of the ceremonies. They happen on the beach in the evening and include dancing, drinking, and eating great food. Plus, you get a lei (those beautiful flower necklaces).

Whale Watching

From November to May, west Maui is the best area to spot humpback whales. Blue Maui Ocean Adventures is an excellent company to do whale tours with. Their charter boats depart right from Kaanapali beach. The tour guides are experienced and informative. Expect to get wet on these tours! The charter boats run fairly smoothly but you’ll still get splashed–maybe even by the whale itself!

Snorkeling

Snorkeling is most popular at the northern end of the beach (where Black Rock is). People snorkel year round in Kaanapali with snorkel tours offered in many places along the coast. It’s safe to snorkel along the shore. However, if you’re looking for some real adventure, it’s worth it to get out further in the ocean. Many people report spotting sea turtles further out and swimming right alongside them.
