4BD Estate Home at Puako Bay (74) is reintroduced in 2026 following an extensive transformation of its outdoor spaces, this private oceanfront estate brings a new level of resort-style living to one of Puako Bay’s most distinctive residential settings.

The centerpiece is a new saltwater infinity pool overlooking the Pacific, surrounded by refreshed landscaping and multiple places to dine, lounge, and gather outdoors. A fully equipped Viking outdoor kitchen, Restoration Hardware lanai furnishings, upper and lower dining areas, a new powder room, and hot-and-cold outdoor shower turn the grounds into a true extension of the home.

The primary ocean facing suite now opens to an expanded lanai with a new stairway connecting directly to the lawn and outdoor hot-and-cold shower.

Inside, the 3,453-square-foot estate retains the character that has long distinguished it: handcrafted hardwood details, vaulted ceilings, generous lanais, and ocean views framed by mature tropical landscaping and a remarkable banyan tree. The three-bedroom main residence is complemented by a private one-bedroom guest suite with its own kitchen, entrance, laundry, and lanai.

The result is a home that still feels unmistakably Puako, but now offers a fully realized outdoor living environment, one where the pool, the kitchen, the dining areas, and the lanai work together as a single outdoor experience rather than as separate amenities.

LIVING AND DINING
Inside, hardwood floors, vaulted ceilings, and ocean-facing windows give the home its warm island character, while keeping the Pacific in frame from nearly every angle.

Two generous seating areas provide room for the group to gather without crowding, while the indoor dining table seats eight. A long granite bar connects the living room to the kitchen, keeping the space open and social whether guests are preparing dinner, pouring drinks, or settling in after a day on the water.

The living areas open naturally onto the wraparound lanai, extending the home toward the ocean and creating an easy connection between indoor and outdoor spaces.

Smart TVs, Sonos audio, and high-speed Wi-Fi provide entertainment and connectivity throughout the residence.

KITCHEN AND OUTDOOR COOKING
The main kitchen pairs granite counters with Viking appliances, a gas range, and a breakfast bar with seating for six. The cook's position faces the ocean, so meal preparation comes with a view. The kitchen is fully equipped for everything from morning coffee and casual breakfasts to dinners for the whole group.

Outside, the newly expanded cooking setup substantially extends that capability. The Viking outdoor kitchen includes a gas BBQ, side burner, and two-drawer refrigerator, designed so meals, drinks, and entertaining can stay entirely outdoors.

With dining areas on both levels of the home, guests can choose between the shade of the upper lanai, the garden setting of the lower terrace, or indoor dining when the group wants to come together inside.

POOL, LANAIS AND OCEANFRONT LIVING
A new saltwater infinity pool now anchors the grounds, and it is here where the 2026 transformation is most apparent.

Framed by Restoration Hardware furnishings and set against freshly landscaped grounds, the pool is positioned toward the ocean with multiple seating and dining areas giving the group room to spread out throughout the day, from morning coffee beneath the banyan to lunch beside the pool and non-stop happy hours as the light changes over Puako Bay.

A new powder room serves the outdoor areas, while the ground level hot-and-cold outdoor shower makes it easy to rinse off after the ocean.

The primary suite’s expanded upper lanai now has its own stairway directly to the lawn, creating a private connection between the suite and the ocean front views.

The shoreline is just beyond the lawn. Guests can explore Puako’s reef, lava shoreline, and coastal waters when conditions allow, or simply stay home and watch the sunset from the lanai or pool.

Beach equipment is provided for excursions along the Kohala Coast.

PUAKO AND THE KOHALA COAST
Puako is one of the Kohala Coast’s most distinctive residential communities: a quiet oceanfront neighborhood removed from the major resorts but close to many of the island’s best beaches, restaurants, golf courses, and outdoor experiences.

The coastline here is defined by lava shelves, reefs, tide pools, and small beach access points, making it particularly rewarding for snorkeling and shoreline exploration when ocean conditions permit.

Some of the Kohala Coast’s best-known sandy beaches and resort amenities are a short drive away. Waimea is approximately 20 minutes inland, with farmers markets, ranch-country restaurants, and a cooler upland setting that feels remarkably different from the coast. North Kohala and Hawi are also easily reached for galleries, local shops, restaurants, and day trips farther north.

The advantage of Puako is that after exploring the island, guests return to a residential community that becomes remarkably quiet by evening.

GOOD TO KNOW
• During the IRONMAN World Championship on Sat, 10/10/2026, significant road closures and traffic delays are expected throughout Kona and the Kohala Coast. Guests traveling during this period should plan accordingly.
• The shoreline directly in front of the property is a natural reef and lava coastline rather than a conventional sandy swimming beach. Ocean conditions vary.
• Exterior security cameras are covered and inactive during guest stays.
• Stays of 14 nights or longer require a mid-stay cleaning.

My family and I absolutely loved our stay in this beautiful house on the water, in a quiet neighborhood away from the resorts, during spring break. There were lots of people on the island during this time, which made getting back to the house after full days of adventure feel like a welcome respite. It was our kind of paradise!

Perfect in every way!

We decided to celebrated my wife's birthday with our three adult kids and significant others on the Big Island. Our daughter lives in Japan so COVID has kept our family apart for most of the past 2 years, making this trip an important reunion as well as birthday celebration. This house was the perfect place to celebrate! The house is absolutely immaculate. Every feature and fixture is first class. The host has discretely labeled all the cabinets and drawers so you know where everything is and where it belongs when you are done with it. A small touch that reflects the care and thoughtfulness that went into every feature of the house. We originally intended to eat out a lot, because innumerable restaurants are within a 10 minute drive. Instead, we fell in love with the big square table on the lanai. We took turns cooking and spent almost every evening gathered around that table, enjoying each other's company and the amazing views. We planned on visiting the local beaches on most days (two beautiful ones are within a 5 minute drive) but by far the best snorkeling we did was on the reef just offshore of the house. There is a reason dive boats and snorkel boats congregate offshore. We also feel in love with the resident sea turtles, who inevitably joined us on every swim. The only cautionary note is to make sure you enter the water about 10 yards down the beach on the right from the house. That allows you to miss some rocks and sea urchins (we learned that after our first swim). We can't imagine a better placer to stay and we can't wait to return to the Big Island and this absolutely perfect home.

Sea Turtles Galore

My family really enjoyed our time here. Now we are spoiled and can never stay anywhere but a house on the beach. My kids loved running down to the beach every morning to see the sea turtles which made their appearance every single day of our trip. The house itself was as described and had everything we needed to enjoy our trip. Only wished it had a pool and larger tvs but this would not deter us from returning.

This is a wonderful house and we would rent it again

This is a wonderful house and we would rent it again. The location is amazing. Front row beach and you can fall asleep to the sounds of the ocean. Lots of sea turtles on the shoreline. Quiet house with close access to resorts as needed. The house itself is well furnished, with a large kitchen. All bedrooms are comfortable including the guest suite above the garage. Elite Pacific is helpful with anything you need. We had an amazing time.

Beautiful location and unique layout

I have stayed here before and was so happy to have dates that could sync up again with my travels. This is a lovely home that wraps around a stunning old growth tree, with a verdant lush backyard, but that is also just steps from the ocean. The best of both worlds.

Very nice house, well furnished and comfortable. The kitchen is stocked with all the equipment to make meals and there is plenty of beach gear too. The beds were comfortable and you can lounge in the back yard, on the decks, or beach. There are lots of turtles in this bay and wading the rocky tide pools are fun to see the marine life. The rocks are large and the surf strong enough to make swimming difficult for even adults. But there are swimming beaches nearby. We spent a week and it’s a great base to enjoy the island for boating, farm tours, jungle tours, luau, and volcanoes. The best shopping, restaurants, and resorts are nearby too. It’s on the drier side of the island so the days were always sunny with a light breeze.

Wonderful Place!!

We booked this property for a family vacation and if I could give this property a 6, I would. Location was great...on a quiet neighborhood street near several nice beaches that our family really loved. Took about 35 minutes from the Kona airport up the main highway. Thus we did some driving back and forth as several of our excursions were in Kona but we didn't mind the drive. We had high expectations going in but the house exceeded those. The beds were super comfy and all the bedrooms were large. The family suite was great for one of our children who brought their baby allowing them to have some extra privacy. We used the Sonos sound system and the TV was top notch. The kitchen was spacious and had everything we needed (coffee maker, toaster, microwave). We really appreciated that the kitchen was already stocked with spices and paper products including coffee filters so that we didn't have to worry about those. There was also plenty of soaps and toilet paper so we didn't have to worry about that either. And the view to the ocean was amazing. Most mornings we sat on the porch to eat breakfast and watch the goings-on in the bay. We snorkeled right off the beach (would recommend wearing water shoes and watching out for sea urchins) and saw multiple sea turtles. There was plenty of high quality beach towels and beach equipment including chairs, umbrellas and fins provided which was super helpful. It was a great home for our vacation. And the property staff was very attentive and kept in good communication with us before and during our stay. We would definitely rent again and I highly recommend it.

This amazing home and property is just what the photos look like. Fantastic location and home with everything needed. Kristen, the property manager, was so easy to communicate with and quickly addressed an issue with the broken refrigerator/freezer. She went above and beyond to make our stay worry-free. Mahalo for a much-needed getaway in such a gorgeous home.
