Honl's Beach Hale (Big Island)

This was a magical vacation house.  The sunset views were amazing and we even saw dolphins from the lanai.  The house is located an easy walk to the beach and town.  Thank you for the amazing hospitality.

Excellent location right at the ocean. Centrally located but felt secluded. Wish we could have stayed longer!!

We loved our stay. We did have a window air conditioner go out and they replaced it within a day. The layout was as described so with 3 couples we had to knock before entering bathroom and walk through bedroom. There were limited supplies in the kitchen and bathroom. The views and location were perfect. Thank you for having us!

The most beautiful sunsets right from the patio! We saw whales and dolphins daily! The house was so clean and air conditioning and fans were terrific. Kitchen very well stocked! We had everything we needed and more! Super responsive hosts that were very helpful.

Incredible place, very peaceful yard and surroundings, with the sound of waves crashing from the back patio. Couldn’t have asked for a better place to stay during our family vacation on the Big Island. We can’t thank you enough for providing such a wonderful accommodation for our family! We truly fell in love with the rental and the views and overall feel. It was great to have a kitchen stocked with all cooking utensils, and to have the beach equipment including kids toys. The views from the lanai and patio are breathtaking. Our only tips would be to even out the entrance to the driveway, as there’s quite a bump getting on/off the road. Also it would be nice to have some shelving in the back bathroom for toiletries etc. Thank you again, this trip is one for the record! Mahalo!

This property suited our adult family perfectly. We loved snorkeling right from the property and the outdoor shower made rinsing off so nice! We watched whales breaching one morning and enjoyed the quick walk into town. A classic beach house with a great location.

We loved this beach house right on the water — we had 5 guests and felt like there was plenty of room. The dining table was outside on the water and we spent most of our time there. Will definitely be going back!

Sensational stay in a very cute property with insanely stunning views. We stayed 5 nights and used the property as a base to explore the west side of the island. The property is located right on the water, town is 10 minutes on foot up the road and has all the amenities to make it your home on Big Island. We’re a family of 5 so the configuration didn’t bother us and there are plenty of fans to circulate air. We found the property to be full of charm and a delight to wake up in every morning. Highly recommend and would definitely book again.

Hands down the best view I’ve ever had at any home I’ve rented. We saved a ton of money eating out because we grilled every night so we could watch the sunset and enjoy the view! Only one room has air conditioning but it’s Hawaii so it’s not a huge deal unless you like to sleep cold. It’s an older home but there were no issues. The location is great and is an easy walk to Kona town for shopping and food. We loved everything about the big island and will try to stay here again next time we come.

My family (husband, 2 teenagers, and a 7yo) and I enjoyed our stay here. The location on Ali'i Drive is very convenient. We walked to shopping and restaurants often. The ocean being right in your backyard is just amazing! The house was clean, and we appreciated the bodyboards to play with at the beaches. Most of the provided goggles and fins were broken, however, and we didn't realize it until we were trying to use them in the water. Minor pet peeve: no regular table salt provided in the house. They allowed us to check out an hour later than usual, with last minute notice. I am VERY appreciative of that! We would stay here again 🙂

What a special place! The view is spectacular, that alone is worth staying here. We had everything we needed and will be staying here again. So glad we found this gem.

Great house located directly in Kona. An older home - not top of the line inside but great views, outside area and outside shower. I'd say it is perfect for two couples or three that know each other well! You have to cross through a room to get to another. Kitchen was well stocked with utensils and cooking pans. You can't really swim off the rocks in front of the house as the wave surge is too hard. Would be really cool to see in a big swell - it was small when we were there, the surf break (Honls) which is right in front was not breaking. We were there a week and it never broke. Great sunsets and views!

Perfect house close to the shops and restaurants on Ali'i and you can't possibly get any closer to the ocean! We had a great time during our week long stay.

We enjoyed our stay here for its location. The view is spectacular, with beautiful sunsets. My husband enjoyed snorkeling right off the backyard. We made use of the hot tub (though it is not located on the patio as the pictures suggest). We really enjoyed the outdoor shower and the lanai. We spent much time outside. The house itself could use some work. It was clean enough, but it is just quite dated and not as nice as the price and description suggests. There is no central air and one A/C unit did not work. All in all though, we did enjoy our stay here.

Beautiful and great location walking distance to Kona. Great snorkeling directly outside the house. The hot tub was nice but it is on the side of the house. Still has a great view. Air conditioning units in all of the bedrooms. One of the bedrooms you must walk through another room to get out. This isn’t an issue with family or close friends. Overall this is a great stay. I would stay again.

The property is in a great location if you want to frequent the restaurants and shops on Ali’s Drive. We went on day trips around the island and Kona is a perfect starting point. One downfall was the air conditioning units did not keep the rooms cool at night. Two of them did not work at all. The addition of ceiling fans would help to move the air. Outside shower was utilized daily and the patio next to the ocean at sunset is a must. I would definitely recommend this property for a family to stay at.

You really feel like you are part of the ocean here. Sitting outside listening to the waves is the calmest I’ve been in a long time. Loved it and would stay again!

Great location, super sweet little beach house…nicely appointed. Great spot to watch the surfers when the swell came in. Also great sunsets and caught the geeen flash once. The hot tub is now at the side of the house and no longer on the sea wall. Loved rolling back the wall to open up the living room.

House is in a great location with awesome views. Having access to the coastline was really nice. However the AC units in the individual rooms didn’t work and it did get warm during our stay. For the price we would’ve expected these to be operational. The hot tub has also been moved to the side of the house so the photo is not accurate. Good proximity to downtown, overall this is recommended.

It was great being on the water watching for whales and viewing the spectacular sunsets. The bedrooms were very warm for sleeping. One bedroom had an AC unit hooked up but it wasn't very efficient. The other two bedrooms had the same AC units in their respective bedroom closets waiting for the exhaust parts to arrive from the mainland. Elishi was wonderful. - responded quickly and very pleasant.
