Fantastic location

Fantastic location on the waters edge, not far from town of Kona. Lots of great coffee and food nearby. Easy walk to the beach and snorkelling to see tropical fish.

So relaxing on the lanai, and to fall asleep to the waves crashing on the rocks below. Home was perfect for two people. Friendly geckos around the property.

The view from this darling cottage has to be one of the most breathtaking and captivating that I have ever seen. The sunsets line up perfectly, the surfers are fun to watch, we could see the reef and fish in the water from the lanai. We even saw an eel that had been washed up and then swept back out with the waves much to my husband’s delight! Ah the waves crashing, and setup in the bedroom makes you feel like you are in an over the water bungalow. The full moon over the water in the early morning  had me mesmerized as well. Fun, artsy,  and vintage Hawaiian decor, and high end finishes and amenities made this feel truly special, thank you for letting us stay!

The Cottage is truly magical. The lanai makes it feel like you are living directly on the ocean. Leaving all the windows and doors open to hear the waves all night was powerful. It was almost like sleeping outside under the stars! The place is also walking distance to a sweet beach where the sea turtles greeting us. Another beach nearby was busy with snorkelers and surfers who were fun to watch from the lanai. The beach just down the way toward the village was fun for body surfing. And a quick drive into the village allows for lovely dinners every night. The Cottage also had plenty of goodies necessary for beach fun, snorkel gear and beach chairs. And the side yard feels lovely and private for sunbathing. We loved every minute and we will be back!

Fantastic and quiet location. Walkable. The kind of place to be away from tourist activities. It is as advertised on the ocean you can hear waves either on the deck or in the bedroom. Two minor things there is a light out on the back porch and a light out in the kitchen fan.

We enjoyed staying at this beautiful house! Location was amazing, down the street from a beach with great snorkeling, we were able to use the gear from the house and walk there, I went twice! A 10-15 minute drive into town. Easy marked spot for parking our rental car. The view was spectacular with great sunsets off the porch. Loved watching the surfers every day. Kitchen very well stocked, definitely the best I’ve seen. The waves break right on the rocks below the house and can be a little loud since you have to leave the window open for air, but the view is worth it! It was a clean and beautiful house, we loved it and would recommend!

This is a gorgeous location with epic sunsets you can enjoy right from the balcony. The property is quite literally on the water, so expect sublime views and the deafening sounds of crashing waves. The property can be somewhat hot and muggy indoors despite the constant sea breeze. Fans are available and definitely required for a comfortable night’s sleep. Lots of bugs here despite the numerous roach and ant traps, but that’s to be expected given the proximity to the ocean. The kitchen was excellently stocked. The proximity to shops and restaurants in Kona are a huge plus. Overall a lovely stay.

Perfect place to kick back and feel at home

The checkin process was exchanging COVID vaccination information and getting the key code. Once I we unpacked and got groceries we felt like we were at home. The place was clean, safe and private. The TV broke and was replaced in less than 24 hours ! Great trip ! First in 1.5 years and would do it again in a heartbeat. The waves lulled us to sleep every night.

This property was great but not without it's issues that can be overlooked by the absolutely FANTASTIC views, sounds and vibes. When we arrived, the house was HOT, opened all the windows and doors and within 10 minutes the house was at a reasonable temp. Great location. 10/10 would stay again.

A month plus at The Cottage

My wife and I have been staying at The Cottage for many years now and have viewed the transition from a Rustic Cottage with a Tepid Tub in the Side Yard to its present status. There is now a Fire Pit where the Tepid Tub was located. The installation of new windows, doors, Counters and a large Shower have made a wonderful place even more magnificent.

A rare gem.

We had two weeks at the cottage. The premise is beautifully located and is walking distancet to some best snorkeling we found. There is a lovely surf break right outside the door. The frontage is outstanding and generous, the parking is good by Big Island standards. We found the property ideal for two people. A small family might also work, keeping in mind activities for small children are limited. This experience is more rustic than the average condo rental and therefore much closer to natural Hawaii. If you are squeamish about the occasional insect this property is not for you. There was a severe storm in Hawaii at the time of our stay and this property is as close to ocean as you can get without swimming. We took extra precautions during the storm to protect the property and consequently were unscathed . It added to the interest and excitement. We loved this stay as it suits our more adventurous side.

Paradise on the surf lagoon

What can I say, this place is the PERFECT oceanside beach house for a visit to the Kona area! We had never been to Hawaii before so felt blind to our choice when selecting a place to stay, but we feel like we could not have picked a better spot. This house is accessible, charming, breezy and within walking distance to an amazing beach and snorkel spot. We would wake each morning, brew local coffee and watch the waves crash on the rocks below our deck as the morning surfers came in for their early sessions. It was perfect. It always felt like home after a long day exploring the island and we can't wait to return! Also, the staff at Boundless Hawaii were an incredible help whenever we had a question leading up to the trip. I can not recommend this house enough!

Tropical cottage life on the ocean

It's easy to drive by but easy to find. A fenced and private cottage right on the water. Parking was easy just outside the fence and there was never an issue with the one or two locals who occassionally walked by the car and then slipped through the vegetation between the properties to go surfing. The sound of the surf was terrific and evry morning we awoke with a view over the ocean.Home was a perfect size for a couple. Kitchen had everything you need and there was a functional propane BBQ with lots of gas. Never got to use fire pit but looks like it would be a fun evening hangout with friends. Its tropical so expect a few small bugs but just keep screen doors closed. Few minor maintenance issues but you will get that located right in the spray zone - especially when the ocean gets lively. Easy ok snorkelling and beach entry less than 100m. At this time of year easy to cool home down with breezes from all directions but don't expect bone chilling AC. Great location and mangement support.

Great location, can't get closers to the ocean

Our stay at the cottage was wonderfull. We stayed a week there after 4 days in Honolulu. This stay was so much more refreshing tan Waikiki. Glad we ended our Hawaii Vacation here. The home was clean and a fun layout. It had all the necessities. It's close to the center of Kona, but not too close. The last few days the waves were big and it got the deck a little wet, but nothing to worry about. I wish the home had air conditioning. It is so humid here, and being from idaho,where it's dry, I never completely got used to it. It would have been nice to have a cool spot to come to. Thank heavens for the ocean breeze, and fans. I would try a different time of year next time, that's not quite so hot. The island and Kona were wonderful and so much to see. We have to plan another stay on big island, and when we do, we'll stay here again. Thank you Boundless Hawaii for making this a great place to stayou. The Kona coffee on the deck in morning, I will think of ever time I have a cup of Joe at home. ALOHA!!

Perfection!

The cottage was perfect! My husband and myself spent five beautiful days here. Watching sunsets and having wonderful meals on the deck. It felt like our honeymoon all over again, but maybe even better. Kona is stunning and the cottage made the experience that much better. A vacation we will never forget! This was a great place to stay. Beautiful sunsets, quiet, relaxing. The first night was a little warm without air conditioning, but we found the fans hiding in the closet and after that it was much more pleasant. If we're ever back on the big island, we will be staying here!

A 2 person house literally right on the ocean

I actually hate to review this place so positively because I want to be able to stay here again and not compete to find open slots! However if you are a couple or single person and really enjoy the ocean right at your door, this is the place. Location is excellent for snorkeling and surfing. Rent bikes and the rest of the island is yours. Place is not fancy, but the doors open right onto the water. The surf crashes below your balcony. It does get hot though during the afternoon - the western sun pounds in. But in the morning and at night it is heaven.

A much needed vacation

The House was very clean and smelled good upon our arrival. All the necessities we needed were there. The only issue we had was no A/C made for some uncomfortable nights sleeping. The views are beautiful and the house offers multiple places to sit and relax. All and all we enjoyed are week long stay here and would recommend it to anyone who can live without A/C. Great quirky little find on the Big Island

My wife and I stayed here for a wedding in April 2016. This place is a nice, quirky little cottage right over the water. It has all the features and amenities you'd need for a great stay. On arrival everything was clean, working and as per the description. A few things to note: It's about 15min drive from Kona (town) It's a 2min drive to the local grocery store It's a 5min walk to the nearest beach park There is a surf break right out front, so when there's waves there will be quite a few cars parked around the property and surfers getting in/out of the water right below the balcony. There's only a door on one entrance to the bathroom, the 2nd entrance has only a curtain (right next to the toilet). Yes... there's some cockroaches, but the management has baits all around and most of them are dead or dying. It's not 'coz the place is not cleaned - it's because the place is right over the waterfront rocks. We get them in our beach house as well. The property managers did a great job with the pre-arrival info. Overall, this place was a great find and certainly better than a Condo or Hotel.

Oceanfront Cottage in Kona

We stayed at the Oceanfront Honeymoon Cottage for two weeks in February. Always nice to escape the wet Oregon weather. We found the Cottage to be perfect for our needs. Right on the ocean adjacient to the best surfing beach in Kona so we could be entertained anytime of the day. The Cottage itself was a great location on Alii Drive. Good way to end our honeymoon

The location was great. We were able to walk down to the bay each morning and snorkel. Believe we saw more fish/eel/sea turtles there than anywhere on Kauai or Hilo. The waves at night can sometimes wake you up during your slumber but easy to go right back to bed. They had surfboard, noodles and beach towels helped out. I would def stay in that area again.

This place is amazing! Accordion doors that open up to the ocean in both the family room (to the deck) and the bedroom. We left the accordion doors open every night to feel the cool ocean breeze and hear that beautiful sound put us to sleep and wake us up every morning! The outside deck area has a hammock, lawn chairs, and a fire pit, all strategically placed to see the most amazing sunset. We made it a point to be there every evening to watch the sun slowly fade into the horizon. The kitchen is perfectly sized for two and has all the necessary pieces to cook great meals while there. And the place, while in plain view to the surfers from the ocean, is very private and fenced off from Ali'i drive. Wonderful place. Loved every moment of staying there. Perfect for a couple looking to get away! Finally, the management company was very helpful in answering questions before booking, providing the needed info to get into the place, and even in following up after we arrived to make sure everything was okay. Amazing experience for us for the 7 days we spent in Kona!

Amazing Ocean View

The Location of this cottage was AMAZING! The online pictures are accurate... being on the lanai with the ocean literally 10 feet away 24/7 was a major highlight of our vacation. The cottage is very close to the Turtle beach and great snorkeling. We saw a whale and some dolphins from the Lanai as well as many surfers who were present promptly at sun rise until the last drop of sun was set. The Cottage was broom clean accept for the bugs and geckos you find everywhere in HI. Repairs are needed as this place was built in the 60's and when they say "starter supplies" they mean one roll of toilet paper and a few garbage bags, so prepare to shop. Overall, we would love to go back and we would recommend this place to our friends but be prepared for a rustic and no frills stay (as they posted this is NOT a hotel). It's all about the location, location, location at the cottage.

We expected "The Cottage" to be a little funkier than it was. It's clean and had everything we needed to make meals, grill outside, and enjoy the Pacific right at our feet. The location is great - walk to snorkeling and beach. Surfers are always riding in front of the cottage. Most of the ocean-side wall opens up, floor to ceiling.

Lovely little cottage by the sea - perfect for a couple. The views of Kahaluu bay are great - saw an Orca breeching, schools of dolphins swimming past, and great sunsets. The house itself was clean - it is approaching readiness for some improvements, but all in all a good value.

Oceanfront Alii house - Very nice

The structure is ON the ocean, in fact the waves wash against the building's lanai foundation. It is next to a great beach, snorkel area, and popular surfing spot. The surfers sometimes launch from the rocks in front of the house, and occasional fishermen using the rocks, too. House seemed a bit 'tired' but in good shape. We appreciated use of the outdoor grill. Access is off a busy street, but there is parking on the street and room for one car in an off-street alcove at the edge of the property. There is a fence between the road and house, so it doesn't have excessive road noise inside the house. Street is quiet at night. There is a section of wall made of folding doors that can be opened between the living room and the lanai overlooking the ocean. These doors are not easy to operate, but do provide a wide-open feeling between indoors and outdoors. If updating, we'd suggest a small indoor dining table and replace the sliding wall leading to the lanai with something more user-friendly and perhaps sound-deadening. Overall it was a very nice place.

Right on the water!

The location was absolutely fantastic! We loved watching the surfers and saw turtles and marlin from our deck, which was not near, but over the water! The only problem was that there are no screens. We learned how to cope rather easily though. Overall we loved the Cottage. We will be back.

we really needed a break and this was a perfect location for us. Everything we needed was on site, and we rented snorkels and masks across the street. turtles abound. Surfers are very fun to watch and they love the waves in front of the cottage. If you want to be in the presence of the ocean, this is perfect.

Our Hawaiian Getaway

Aloha from the West Coast of British Columbia! The Cottage was the perfect little getaway if you like being right on the ocean. You have to like hearing the crashing of the waves for sure - and we do! From the lanai watching the surfers trying to conquer the might seas is a great theraputic way to get rid of the city hum-drums! The only "issue" we encountered was the broken coffee pot! Always a city dweller, the first morning was a little rough until Walmart opened and we purchased a new coffee pot. Java is on us! We are hoping to make the Cottage our yearly retreat. Mahalo !!!

This property is in the best location with waves lapping onto rocks below the lanai and beautiful sunsets ! We had an amazing 7 nights here and really enjoyed ourselves - the property could do with a bit of updating and maintenance but we didn't tend to notice due to the amazing location and view. We would highly suggest this property for couples that want a more private honeymoon 🙂

Great location, will book again (if possible after sale)

Wasn't aware that the property was for sale when I arrived, with the possibility of clients potentially walking through. Perhaps the addition of an in-house safe would be appropriate for security, as most guests will spend most of their time outdoors while on vacation. I hope this home continues to be available for rent in the future, I would like to return. And, like a ship on the water, there are signs that it needs a little TLC, but nothing that will dissuade my re-booking. Thanks for a great time!

The location was so perfect, it was sometimes hard to pull ourselves away from the waves breaking right below our feet. This unit is perfect for a couple who'd like a little piece of paradise for themselves. The pictures are not doctored, the place really is as good as it looks.

I'd have the owner fix the front gate and the moving wall in the bedroom (especially since it's up for sale). Many light bulbs were out and the switches were a bit hard to figure out, but WOW the location can't be beat, right over the water, a few houses away from a beach with decent snorkeling. It was GREAT.

Honeymoon

We had an exceptional visit to the Cottage. The tour books were very helpful with getting around. The property was stocked well with dishes and utilities. I would suggest giving instructions for the hot tub with the reminder that the maintenance person comes by on Thursdays. Directions to the nearest grocery store would also have been helpful upon arrival. We would definately recommend this to friends and love to visit again.

Amazing location and views right on the water

Right on the water - great breeze even during the heat of the day, with a fully covered lanai. Front room opens up completely to the lanai and ocean. If you want direct sun, another side area off the bedroom is completely open to the sky (except for palms above) and ocean . Gas grill is great. New tile throughout is great. Kitchen has all the utensils you need. Only bad - place smells very moldy when the doors are closed.

Amazing view and location

Waterfront doesn't begin to describe this cottage. At high tide, you feel the spray on the large lanai. The living room doors unfold to make one huge patio, and you can watch and hear the waves from the bedroom and side patio too. Just 2 houses down from a fantastic snorkeling bay w/sea turtles, and from the patio we could enjoy watching dozens of surfers riding the waves there from pre-dawn to nightfall. Absolutely loved it.

A very nice romantic get-a-way for two.

My wife and I very much enjoyed our stay at The Cottage. A very charming one bedroom home with a terrific view of the ocean, and surf. If you were any closer, you would be getting wet. Very nice living room, lani and side yard with plenty of chairs, lounges and tables. Just a short walk to Kahalu’u Beach Park with very good snorkeling, swimming and surfing. While the unit was very clean when we arrived, do take advantage of the provided Tupperwear containers for any dry food stuffs. There was evidence of some small four legged visitors during our stay. Overall, very nice. We would gladly stay again.
