Each year Mauna Lani receives juvenile Hawaiian Green Sea Turtles (Honu) and raises them in the saltwater ponds of Mauna Lani Bay Hotel. The turtles are cared for until they reach an appropriate size and weight to be released into the wild. Every year on July 4th, the turtles are released in a grand ceremony. This family-friendly event is a wonderful way of learning about the Honu and learning about the Hawaiian green sea turtle while on vacation. November is also a great time to vacation at Mauna Lani when The Shops at Mauna Lani hosts their annual “Uncorked” Food and Wine Festival featuring local chefs and spirits.
